A different approach to
teaching coding
You want to learn programming using Python. That’s great.
And you’re looking at several resources to learn from. I’m glad you’re also considering The Python Coding Place.
My communication style is a bit different from the usual courses and texts. I teach the way I would have loved to learn Python myself. But I’ll let you make your own decision on whether this is your style of learning.

The best way to see if The Python Coding Place is for you is to start the free courses. If you like the style, you can carry on!
Join me as I guide you along the path to learn Python programming in a relaxed and friendly manner. My priority when teaching is clarity. You need to learn how to do things, but I believe it’s important to also know why things are the way they are.

The Python Coding Book
The Python Coding Book is a friendly and relaxed introductory text book to learn to code. The Book is suitable for beginners and those in the early-intermediate stage. It covers the fundamentals but also topics such as data visualisation and numerical Python.
Members get a free EBook copy as part of their membership
You can also read the “Zeroth” Edition which is available online. Yes, that’s zeroth, as in the one before the First Edition
The Python Coding Stack
The Python Coding Stack is my substack where I regularly publish articles covering a range of Python topics.
The Stack is rapidly gaining a reputation for its clarity and innovative style. I often use narrative techniques and always write in a relaxed and casual manner.
Stephen Gruppetta
I used to be a scientist. Now I focus on communicating about Python and teaching coding.
I write and teach in the way I prefer to learn. I like to visualise what I’m learning, and find simple ways of explaining complex concepts.
Corporate Training
Corporate training focuses on introducing programming in Python for those who are new or relatively new to coding, with a focus on tailoring the learning to the needs of the teams attending the training.
I generally split the training into two parts. The first covers the fundamentals of programming. The second dives into more quantitative aspects of coding in Python and is generally focussed on areas that are of particular relevance to the team.
And What Do My Students Say?
“This 7 part series of threads is the best #Python OOP conceptual understanding mini “course” I’ve seen yet on Twitter. Data Science & Python enthusiasts would be doing themselves a favour by bookmarking and rereading all 7 of these. Amazing work!!”

“The clarity of your writing has helped me understand Python at a deeper level, and be able to teach it better”
The Python Coding Stack Subscriber
“I’m loving ThePythonCodingBook. It covers the “why” as well as the “how” in a simple and understandable way, and is filling in many of the gaps from my self-taught “Google when I get stuck” approach to learning Python over the past year!“
The Python Coding Book Reader
“I am currently reading The Python Coding Book and I have to tell you how much I love your approach to coding and the way you explain every step! I’ll take this opportunity to thank you for all you’ve done and you’re doing to teach us!“

Private Mentorship and Training
I offer a limited number of spots for private mentorship and teaching. My focus is to help those who are at the beginning or early intermediate stage of their Python learning journey as that’s where I can provide most value.
